The Aero Performance Lab in Beringen played an important role in the preparations for the Tour de France. Several teams lifted a veil in the run-up to the time trial, and APL turned out to play a key role on multiple occasions.

The main protagonist with a connection to the wind tunnel at the Aero Performance Lab was, of course, Mathieu van der Poel. It remained a well-kept secret that he visited the lab after the Spring Classics to fine-tune his time trial position. However, in the lead-up to the time trial in Caen, the story came to light—among others, via the Belgian cycling site Sporza. The precise details of his session were not disclosed, but there was no doubt serious work was done.
Renowned Clothing Manufacturers
Clothing manufacturer Santini also paid a visit to Beringen. The brand shared the news via social media: "Before the Tour kicked off, we went to the wind tunnel to fine-tune every detail of our fastest skinsuit. The result is the fifth generation of this time trial suit – the outcome of research, precision work, and hours of testing." Santini is the official clothing sponsor of the Tour and also a partner of Lidl-Trek. Several Italian riders from the team, such as Giulio Ciccone and Simone Consonni, have already visited Beringen.
Lastly, Bioracer also shared its efforts regarding apparel via social media. Bioracer is a partner of TotalEnergies, the team of general classification rider Steff Cras. In this way, many performances in the Tour de France were shaped in Beringen – and we are very proud of that!
