The UCI Road World Championships will take place in Rwanda on Sunday. It promises to be a historic championship, not only because it's being held on African soil for the first time, but also because of the challenging conditions the riders will face. Heat, humidity, and elevation gain make it one of the most demanding world championships ever. For Quinten Hermans, focused preparation is therefore essential.

Simulating Rwanda in Belgium
To prepare himself, Quinten has been training in our climate-controlled chamber. There, we can simulate the conditions of Rwanda as accurately as possible. Temperature, humidity, and altitude are adjusted in a controlled manner, so his body learns to cope with the specific challenges he will face in Africa before his departure.
During the sessions, he performed various efforts while parameters such as heart rate, sweat loss, body temperature, and power output data were closely monitored. These measurements provide insight into how his body reacts under heat stress and which training or nutritional adjustments are most effective leading up to the World Championships.

A head start towards the World Cup
This preparation will help Quinten overcome the initial shock of the heat and altitude, allowing him to start the World Championships with a head start. It's a proud moment for Aero Performance Lab to support him in this endeavor, and we look forward to seeing how he can translate this preparation into performances at the World Championships in Rwanda.
