Sergio Higuita prepares for the Vuelta at Aero Performance Lab

The Vuelta a España is traditionally the final major event of the season, but that doesn't make it any less challenging. This year, the race starts in Turin, where the riders are immediately presented with a challenging course. For climbers like Sergio Higuita, it's a chance to prove himselves at the highest level of cycling. But in a race where every second counts for three weeks, it's about more than just climbing.

That's why the Colombian rider visited our Aero Performance Lab in his preparation. In the lead-up to the Vuelta, nothing was left to chance: aerodynamics, efficiency, and endurance had to be perfectly balanced. Higuita, known for his explosiveness in the mountains, wanted to be optimally prepared for every aspect of the race, from the team time trial to the toughest mountain stages.

During the sessions, we analyzed his position on the time trial bike in our wind tunnel. Small adjustments yielded promising results: a more efficient position that conserves wattage without disrupting his natural riding style. Although his strength lies primarily in the mountains, seconds gained or lost in a time trial can make all the difference in the overall standings.

At Aero Performance Lab, we believe that performance never stands alone. It's the combination of talent, preparation, and technology that equips a rider for three weeks of racing. We're looking forward to seeing how Sergio translates this preparation into results during the toughest days of the season, with an aero setup that will prove valuable in the team and individual time trials in the coming weeks.
